IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship

The American series born in 2014 was the result of a merger between the American Le Mans Series and Grand Am. Like in the European and Asian series the LM P2s are part of the blue riband
Prototype category, and they share the billing with the DPs (Daytona Prototypes), typically American sports prototypes.

The USCC’s calendar comprises around ten races on very varied circuits, and it includes legendary events like the Daytona 24 Hours, the Sebring 12 Hours and the Petit Le Mans.

Prototype (P) It combines the GRAND-AM Daytona Prototypes, the ALMS P2s and the DeltaWing. These are the quickest and most technically advanced cars in North America capable of speeds exceeding 300 km/h.
Prototype Challenge (PC) It consists of open cars with a carbon chassis, carbon brakes and a sequential gearbox.
GT Le Mans (GTLM) It is the former ALMS Grand Touring category and comprises the quickest GT cars. They are based on a series production model developed to obtain the maximum amount of power, and reach speeds in excess of 290 km/h.
GT Daytona (GTD) It comprises the GT GRAND-AM, GTC ALMS and FIA-GT3s. They are also series production based models but have neither the aerodynamics nor the power of the GT LMs.
