The Ligier JS F4 is a Formula 4 car, a category created by the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile). It is the first step on the single-seater ladder for young drivers who have come from karts, in particular.
The Ligier JS F4 is built around a carbon chassis that combines performance and safety. In 2018 it will be given an upgrade to improve driver safety even further.
The F4 single-seater, which began life as a Crawford F4, was selected by the FIA and the SCCA Pro Racing as the exclusive car to be used by all the teams in the F4 U.S. Championship since it was first staged in 2016. It will be renamed the Ligier JS F4 for the 2018 season.
In the United States the Ligier JS F4 is powered by a Honda K20 C1 2-litre engine derived by HPD from the Civic® Type R® tweaked to put out around 160 bhp. It is also equipped with a sequential gearbox with steering wheel mounted paddles and shod with Pirelli tyres.
Other engines can also be installed in the Ligier JS F4 depending on the championship.
